The Coast Starlight®, Southwest Chief®, Pacific Surfliner®, and Sunset Limited® trains transport passengers to beautiful Los Angeles Union Station while the San Joaquins® arrive there from the valley through a motorcoach connection.
The Coast Starlight is one of the country’s most celebrated long distance trains traveling a route steeped in history and incredible scenery. The Coast Starlight travels between Los Angeles and Seattle offering spectacular views of California’s Pacific Coast and the wonders of the Cascade mountain range in the Pacific Northwest. The Southwest Chief and Sunset Limited take passengers between LA and Chicago and New Orleans respectively with wonderful stops in between. All three long-distance trains are full service trains featuring reclining coach seating, a variety of private room accommodations, dining car, and a Sightseer Lounge Car where you can take in the view through the car’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
If you’re traveling to Los Angeles from the San Joaquin Valley or Northern California, Amtrak San Joaquin service travels four times daily into Los Angeles via a Bakersfield motorcoach connection. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner brings passengers to Los Angeles from San Diego in the south and San Luis Obispo from the north. Both services feature coach seating and a café car offering hot entrees, sandwiches, snacks, and beverages.
Amtrak has partnered with LA INC. to promote Los Angeles as a destination and develop communications informing people about the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed Amtrak experience while traveling to LA. Amtrak offers discounted rail fares for children and seniors. Up to two kids, ages 2-15, may accompany each paid adult at half the adult rail fare purchased. Seniors 62 and over travel at 15% off the lowest available rail fare.
