Metro
Metro is unique among the nation's transportation agencies. It serves as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder and operator for one of the country's largest, most populous counties. Besides operating more than 2,000 buses throughout L.A. County on an average weekday, Metro also operates the Metro Rail system, consisting of the Red, Purple, Blue, Green and Gold lines. Metro Rail serves 62 stations stretching through Long Beach, Downtown LA, Hollywood, Norwalk, Redondo Beach, North Hollywood, Pasadena and all points in between. Recognizing that no one form of transit can solve urban congestion problems, Metro's multimodal approach uses a variety of transportation alternatives to meet the needs of the highly diverse populations in the region.
Continuing to promote Los Angeles as a destination, Metro’s partnership with LA INC. highlights the ease of transportation in LA by providing Metro Pocket Guides in 10 languages at the Visitors Information Centers and Los Angeles events, encouraging the local LA resident to try Metro and encouraging visiting friends and family to ‘Go Metro’ as they explore Los Angeles.
